What is Sports Therapy? // 


Sports Therapy is a branch of healthcare professionals that specifically focuses on the prevention of injury and, where an injury has already occurred. Rehabilitating clients back to optimum levels of functionality and fitness regardless of age, ability or activity background. 


Pain and Injury Clinic applies the principles of sport and exercise sciences, such as physiological, biomechanics and pathological processes. With the all-important aim of preparing the client for participation in activities that may have become difficult due to injury or everyday wear and tear.

What can I expect on my first visit?

Your first session will include a full assessment of your condition. The therapist will take a detailed history of your medical status and present condition. This will be followed by a methodical clinical examination. Based on this clinical examination we will discuss and establish a treatment plan, which will be adapted to your needs and abilities. If we do not think further treatment is necessary we will advise you at this point.

How long is each session?

Sessions will be 40-60 minutes depending on payment option. Each follow up treatment session will incorporate a reassessment of your condition to establish progress.

How many sessions will I need?

​This depends greatly on your condition and how long it has been a problem. 
Following your initial assessment we will discuss what the anticipated number of treatments is likely to be and review your progress during each session. Early treatment will help you regain pain free function more quickly. We do not believe in continuing treatment unless it is benefitting you. If we feel that you need further investigations we will refer you to an appropriate specialist immediately.

What shall I wear?

Loose fitting, comfortable clothing is advised and for lower back, hip or leg problems a pair of shorts is ideal. In order for us to assess and treat you properly it may be necessary to ask you to remove clothing.
